“I’d been thinking for a long time that we should get a proper independent view of our finances. We weren’t unhappy with our previous adviser, but they weren’t independent, and I felt we ought to be working with someone who was. We had also come into some cash fairly recently, and rather than just put it straight into our normal investments I wanted a fresh perspective.
I went through a research phase and initially reached out to Kevin because of his five-star VouchedFor account. He was great right from the start; he treats you as an individual, with individual needs, and he gets to understand them really well. He also seemed really invested in us and in working with us and was incredibly patient while we worked our way through the process. I trusted him right from the start.
We’re quite different in that we’re not the kinds of people who really know what we want for the future, and told Kevin this at the beginning! But he’s been brilliant with us. He’s come up with some really creative ideas that make the most of our estate, in a way that we’d never have been able to do on our own. The detail he’s gone into is incredible! He’s also importantly gotten involved in other areas like our wills, which just means we can have someone we trust who is our one-stop shop for everything.
My wife and I have never particularly been people who care about money, it’s not something we spend a lot of time on. Kevin has effectively been our brain for all of this, and it’s helped us to start thinking about things we really ought to have done a long time ago.
